In Egypt, palm-based products namely, cocoa butter equivalent (CBE), cocoa butter replacer (CBR), and cocoa butter substitutes (CBS) in which each one has their strength for different confectionery applications due to the high price and inconsistent supply of cocoa butter. Shortening is also used commonly used in bakery products. Multinational manufacturers operating in Egypt are demanding mass-balanced oil, and this demand is increasing to fulfill requirements made by their international customers.
